Thank goodness 2022 has plenty of horror-related content to choose from. #CABIN FEVER REMAKE FREE#Now that people are mostly free to roam around the country, Halloween is back! Those neighborhood block-wide trick-or-treating events are a go and people are probably wondering who to dress up as and remain pertinent at the same time. Hopefully, Blumhouse is able to assist in getting it made as well.Īre you looking forward to McFarlane’s Spawn? It is well-known that McFarlane wants this film to be very much horror-oriented. It is crazy how hard of a time this film has had getting off the ground. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil’s henchman, a wicked clown (John Alberto Leguizamo). He accepts, and is reincarnated as a “Hellspawn” - a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. Upon arriving in Hell, Simmons is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he’s willing to lead an evil army. The synopsis for the 1997 Spawn film went like this:Ĭovert government assassin Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed after being double-crossed by his boss, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen). That combined with Jamie Foxx being onboard is hopefully enough to get the film greenlit and in production. The hope is that these two writers come up with a great script. It combines Al’s mercenary nature with the hellish insanity that Malebolgia and The Violator bring to his life after death. Those are both incredible writers to add to Spawn. Silver is known for his work on Joker and Spellman is known for his work on The Winter Soldier. Today, McFarlane announced that he has added both Scott Silver and Malcolm Spellman as writers for the Spawn movie. Luckily, the two things that haven’t changed are McFarlane’s interest in the film getting made and Jamie Foxx staying onboard waiting anxiously. Todd McFarlane’s long-awaited film, Spawn has gone through a lot of phases over the years. As it spreads among the friends, their true feelings and personalities emerge as they struggle to survive the virus and each other. In the film, a group of five college graduates rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus, which attracts the unwanted attention of the homicidal locals. “ I am a die hard fan of horror films and the king of horror Eli Roth trusted me to re-imagine his film. “ It was a great opportunity to recreate an iconic film for a new generation of horror fans,” said Zariwny. Travis Zariwny directed the Cabin Fever remake, which was just scooped up by IFC Midnight for North American distribution. And Roth says he’s a fan of the end result, calling the unique experiment a “ really fun movie.” Originally described as a shot-for-shot remake, akin to Gus Van Sant’s Psycho, it was clarified this year that Roth’s script was used as the basis for the remake, though the death scenes were completely changed. As we learned last year, a remake of Roth’s debut horror film is indeed on the way, and this one is very interesting because the original script is once again being used. Maybe Zarwiny will bring a fresh perspective to the story, but this trailer isn't particularly promising. It’s been 13 years since Eli Roth burst onto the scene with Cabin Fever, which is basically an eternity in remake-happy Hollywood. But that's kind of the problem: the original holds up. Why reintroduce this story to a "new generation"? They'd probably still enjoy Roth's original movie. #CABIN FEVER REMAKE MOVIE#That's not a total knock on the remake, as the original Cabin Fever is still a darkly funny horror movie with some fun practical effects. Zarwiny definitely did use Roth's original script, without making many changes, because most of the major story beats are all in this trailer. They're all fans of the original and want to make a film that's a new classic and I believe they will.īased on the Cabin Fever remake trailer release by Bloody Disgusting, do you think this will be a new classic? I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I'm excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it. About a year and a half ago we heard the remake, directed by Travis Zarwiny, would use Eli Roth's original script, which features a bunch of college graduates encountering a skin-eating disease.Īt the time, executive-producer Eli Roth had this to say: Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and as a scary movie fan I really wanted to see it. Director Ti West ( The Innkeepers) made the sequel, but even he tried to get his name removed from the project after the producers took over the film. A prequel and a sequel were made for Cabin Fever, and neither of them really landed with audiences.
